James M. “Jay” Shilstone, Jr. has over 35 years in the Concrete Industry. Jay has worked with over 1,000 concrete producers around the world, helping them develop better quality concrete mixes and improve their performance. Jay is the third generation of Shilstones to work in concrete quality control. Jay joined his father in 1977 and became responsible for computerizing the family’s quality control technology in software that sold over 2,500 copies in the U.S. and 56 other countries. A Fellow of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), Jay is active on Technical Committees and Board level Committees, including his latest appointment to the International Advisory Committee. He is former chair of ACI Committee 304, 118 and the Internet Advisory Committee and is active on committees 118, 211, 214, 303 and 304. In addition, Jay is on the NRMCA Research, Engineering and Standards Committee and the P2P Committee. He is an NRMCA Level 3 Certified Concrete Technologist. Jay is a graduate of Rice University in Houston, TX with a BA in Economics.
